LM Woman #25 / Morgan Allender

Under the name Tenth Meadow, Morgan has built a following with her unruly, wild arrangements and a small flower farm she so beautifully documents on her Instagram.  Courting nature’s perfection through her painting, her works are large scale, other-wordly floral depictions, that silently capture the serene intimacy you feel when alone in nature.

LM Woman #24 / Cyndle Komarovski

Cyndle Komarovaki is a woman of many talents. Born and raised in Boston, she moved to NYC at the tender age of 19 to pursue a career in makeup after being inspired by it’s transformative nature through the punk rock scene.  She has an approach to her career that is unorthodox and zealous - extending her skill-set to work as Creative Director in content and motion.

LM Woman #21 / Georgia Hilmer

LM Woman #21 / Georgia Hilmer

Georgia Hilmer: smart, direct and kind. At 25, she is a successful model and photographer, balancing her two careers with a third - studying sociology and literature at NYU. She has walked for Chanel,  shot for i-D, Another magazine and The Line.

After admiring Georgia’s work via her blog and instagram, we organised to meet Georgia face-to-face at her Brooklyn home. Her place, which also houses her light-filled studio actually turned out to be one of those sprawling converted warehouses you only believe exist in 90s films; a circuit of light filled rooms brimful floor-to-ceiling with books, oddities and perfectly overgrown plants. Her studio beams on a warm day with a spectrum of colour - her boyfriend (also a photographer) has always hung old chandelier pendants in the windows of wherever he lives - spilling out prisms of light on even a gloomy day.

Initial inspiration for the Lee Mathews Resort 19 collection came from the iconic American architect Frank Llyod-Wright, designers Charles & Ray Eames, and minimalist artist Donald Judd - not only for their striking body of work but also their belief that design should be in harmony with humanity and the environment.

Photo Essay #04 / Idée fixe

We made it out by dawn, to the wild country where the bush meets the farmland.

There was a fox slinking through the field in the cool morning stillness, fur damp from the dew, unhurried and unworried by the cattle and egrets.

We shot until the day was too warm, the sun too harsh. We captured the red flame of a silk dress in the field, striped cotton in the silvery grass. They represent a fascination, or fixation, with the strange symmetry between humans and the natural world.

Photo Essay #03 / Skeletons Of The Feast

I saw what seemed to be a preoccupation with the fulfilment that a secular, everyday working life can bring. God rarely featured, but demonstrations of wealth and enterprise did, and they seemed to be coupled with an acute awareness of death.

LM Woman #16 / Anouk Colantoni

LM Woman #16 / Anouk Colantoni

Weaving pen, vivacious watercolour and witty written word, artist Anouk Colantoni’s work is liberatingly womanly and real. A rollercoaster of boobs, sex, relationships and brazen humour pulsate across her frenetic, funny illustrations , as she shares with us stories of women in society and life that we can all relate to.  As warm, personal and wonderfully open as her art, we chatted to Anouk about her journey living in NYC from Fashion Editor to entering the world a working artist.
LM Woman #17 / Margot Henderson

LM Woman #17 / Margot Henderson

We met Margot one late morning at the new Rochelle Canteen at the ICA. Perched on a mezzanine level, the Rochelle spirit brings warmth to the large historic building - unpretentious simple seating, jugs of fresh cut dahlias, shelves lined with hand labelled jars of her famous jams.  Margot is funny, warm, witty, magnetic and has a tenacious sensibility.  She tells us they were out the night before celebrating; Rochelle Canteen has just won the prestigious 2017 Tatler Restaurant Award for ‘Test of Time’, and it’s an accolade we couldn’t agree with more.

Shot on 35mm film by Marguerite Moloney in her hometown of Byron Bay, Yesterday captures a sense of the bygone in a familiar suburban landscape, eerie for its deserted institutional spaces, hinting at memories from a previous life.
LM Woman #15 / Ruby Barber

LM Woman #15 / Ruby Barber

‘Some people, like flowers, give pleasure, just by being’, American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson once said. This phrase could not be more apt for Berlin based florist Ruby Barber. Creator of Mary Lennox with collaborator and old friend Olivia, Ruby is a multidisciplinary florist producing dramatic, unexpected and sculptural arrangements. Known for her space at The Store x Soho House, Ruby works in a distinctively forward space in the florist world. Her work is a focus of composition and colour, as she gently tames wild and unusual blooms to create highly cinematic arrangements.

Could enjoying a serene disposition and a glowy complexion really be that simple?

LM Woman #14 / Lucy O'Doherty

LM Woman #14 / Lucy O'Doherty

We met Australian artist Lucy O’Doherty on her last evening in Paris.  After winning the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship,  Lucy has just spent her summer working and living from a small studio in the Cité Internationale des Arts, an artist residency along the Seine that feels like a United Nations for young artists. The building is impressive; a maze of over 300 studios allowing musicians, performers and artists from over 50 countries to develop their practice.

For Lucy, her work mostly revolves around the home; she paints places that are always empty and suburban, with a soft fuzziness that makes each work glow with a mysterious sadness.
