Resort is the season we find ourselves yearning for colour and inspiration. This year Lee Mathews has collaborated with National Art School graduate, Clare Wigney, on a collection inspired by Clare’s digital paintings and love of mid-century American art. The bleached bright colours of Moroccan ceramics and 70s New York artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Anne Truitt informed the colour palette. Armed with this inspiration, Clare took our ‘Signature and Floral’ theme and created four works to play with.
In the spirit of 60s New York nightclubs, simple shapes and bold colours reflect the ‘clothing as art’ idea driven by the pop culture of the time, and in a new direction for Lee Mathews, Resort 2022 is designed to be worn by anyone.
